About Us
ShadeTree Acre actually started out with a few chickens in my backyard during the spring of 2013 as a therapy program for my husband after he was diagnosed with PTSD and TBI from injuries sustained while in the United States Marine Corps. I also had been diagnosed with PTSD and TBI a few years earlier from my time in the Corps, so I knew the struggles and I believed the chickens would help him recover.
Fast forward a few months, the chickens have grown into adults and a few chickens had turned into hundreds of chickens (not to include our flock of turkeys and ducks we had added to the numbers as well). The birds had a tendency to bicker and fight between each other and in the end, some would come out missing more feathers then the other. I saw that my chickens needed something that would attach to them to protect their feathers. That is when I started making chicken saddles. When I started, I had never used a sewing machine before, and I had no idea how to even thread it. All the knowledge came with time, and I started getting more confident in my abilities and my crafting venture started, that is when ThimbleWorks was created.
For over a decade now, I have made physical products ranging from chicken saddles, chicken tutus, earrings, home decor, and so much more... Over the years I learned skills to create my own digital designs. I hope you love my designs as much as I love making them.
